    Anti-disturbance fault tolerant initial alignment for inertial navigation system subjected to multiple disturbances

    Modeling error, stochastic error of inertial sensor, measurement noise and environmental disturbance affect the accuracy of an inertial navigation system (INS). In addition, some unpredictable factors, such as system fault, directly affect the reliability of INSs. This paper proposes a new anti-disturbance fault tolerant alignment approach for a class of INSs sub- jected to multiple disturbances and system faults. Based on modeling and error analysis, stochastic error of inertial sensor, measurement noise, modeling error and environmental disturbance are formulated into different types of disturbances described by a Markov stochastic process, Gaussian noise and a norm-bounded variable, respectively. In order to improve the accuracy and reliability of an INS, an anti-disturbance fault tolerant filter is designed. Then, a mixed dissipative/guarantee cost performance is applied to attenuate the norm-bounded disturbance and to optimize the estimation error. Slack variables and dissipativeness are introduced to reduce the conservatism of the proposed approach. Finally, compared with the unscented Kalman filter (UKF), simulation results for self-alignment of an INS are provided based on experimental data. It can be shown that the proposed method has an enhanced disturbance rejection and attenuation performance with high reliability

    A Hybrid Intelligent Algorithm for Optimal Birandom Portfolio Selection Problems

    Birandom portfolio selection problems have been well developed and widely applied in recent years. To solve these problems better, this paper designs a new hybrid intelligent algorithm which combines the improved LGMS-FOA algorithm with birandom simulation. Since all the existing algorithms solving these problems are based on genetic algorithm and birandom simulation, some comparisons between the new hybrid intelligent algorithm and the existing algorithms are given in terms of numerical experiments, which demonstrate that the new hybrid intelligent algorithm is more effective and precise when the numbers of the objective function computations are the same

    The basic reproductive ratio of Barbour's two-host schistosomiasis model with seasonal fluctuations

    Motivated by the first mathematical model for schistosomiasis proposed by Macdonald and Barbour's classical schistosomiasis model tracking the dynamics of infected human population and infected snail hosts in a community, in our previous study, we incorporated seasonal fluctuations into Barbour's model, but ignored the effect of bovine reservoir host in the transmission of schistosomiasis. Inspired by the findings from our previous work, the model was further improved by integrating two definitive hosts (human and bovine) and seasonal fluctuations, so as to understand the transmission dynamics of schistosomiasis japonica and evaluate the ongoing control measures in Liaonan village, Xingzi County, Jiangxi Province.; The basic reproductive ratio R 0 and its computation formulae were derived by using the operator theory in functional analysis and the monodromy matrix theory. The mathematical methods for global dynamics of periodic systems were used in order to show that R 0 serves as a threshold value that determines whether there was disease outbreak or not. The parameter fitting and the ratio calculation were performed with surveillance data obtained from the village of Liaonan using numerical simulation. Sensitivity analysis was carried out in order to understand the impact of R 0 on seasonal fluctuations and snail host control. The modified basic reproductive ratios were compared with known results to illustrate the infection risk.; The Barbour's two-host model with seasonal fluctuations was proposed. The implicit expression of R 0 for the model was given by the spectral radius of next infection operator. The R 0 s for the model ranged between 1.030 and 1.097 from 2003 to 2010 in the village of Liaonan, Xingzi County, China, with 1.097 recorded as the maximum value in 2005 but declined dramatically afterwards. In addition, we proved that the disease goes into extinction when R 0 is less than one and persists when R 0 is greater than one. Comparisons of the different improved models were also made.; Based on the mechanism and characteristics of schistosomiasis transmission, Barbour's model was improved by considering seasonality. The implicit formula of R 0 for the model and its calculation were given. Theoretical results showed that R 0 gave a sharp threshold that determines whether the disease dies out or not. Simulations concluded that: (i) ignoring seasonality would overestimate the transmission risk of schistosomiasis, and (ii) mollusiciding is an effective control measure to curtail schistosomiasis transmission in Xingzi County when the removal rate of infected snails is small

    AbstractBy analyzing the DC traction supply system in coal mine, we confirmed the following four parameters to be the characteristic parameters of workface stray current safe early warning, that is, the leakage current of contacting line, resistance of insulating splint, the distance between workface and subtraction substation and the stray voltage of contacting line. After that, we developed a safety early warning model of coal mining workface stray current danger grade with ANFIS as its core, choosing data sets measured online to do the training and early warning of safe early warning model. Results indicate that the model can be able to complete safety early warning of workface stray current. Besides, a monitoring and early warning system of stray current was introduced

    Paper-based microfluidics for rapid diagnostics and drug delivery

    Paper is a common material that is promising for constructing microfluidic chips (lab-on-a-paper) for diagnostics and drug delivery for biomedical applications. In the past decade, extensive research on paper-based microfluidics has accumulated a large number of scientific publications in the fields of biomedical diagnosis, food safety, environmental health, drug screening and delivery. This review focuses on the recent progress on paper-based microfluidic technology with an emphasis on the design, optimization and application of the technology platform, in particular for medical diagnostics and drug delivery. Novel advances have concentrated on engineering paper devices for point-of-care (POC) diagnostics, which could be integrated with nucleic acid-based tests and isothermal amplification experiments, enabling rapid sample-to-answer assays for field testing. Among the isothermal amplification experiments, loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), an extremely sensitive nucleic acid test, specifically identifies ultralow concentrations of DNA/RNA from practical samples for diagnosing diseases. We thus mainly focus on the paper device-based LAMP assay for the rapid infectious disease diagnosis, foodborne pathogen analysis, veterinary diagnosis, plant diagnosis, and environmental public health evaluation. We also outlined progress on paper microfluidic devices for drug delivery. The paper concludes with a discussion on the challenges of this technology and our insights into how to advance science and technology towards the development of fully functional paper devices in diagnostics and drug delivery

    Longitudinal associations between triglycerides and metabolic syndrome components in a Beijing adult population, 2007-2012

    Background: Longitudinal associations between triglycerides (TG) and other metabolic syndrome (MetS) components have rarely been reported. The purpose was to investigate the longitudinal association between TG and other MetS components with time. Methods: The longitudinal study was established in 2007 on individuals who attended health check-ups at Beijing Tongren Hospital and Beijing Xiaotangshan Hospital. Data used in this study was based on 7489 participants who had at least three health check-ups over a period of 5-year follow up. Joint model was used to explore longitudinal associations between TG and other MetS components after adjusted for age. Results: There were positive correlations between TG and other MetS components except for high density lipoprotein (HDL), and the correlations increased with time. A negative correlation was displayed between TG and HDL, and the correlation also increased with time. Among all five pairs of TG and other MetS components, the marginal correlation between TG and body mass index (BMI) was the largest for both men and women. The marginal correlation between TG and fasting plasma glucose was the smallest for men, while the marginal correlation between TG and diastolic blood pressure was the smallest for women. Conclusions: The longitudinal association between TG and other MetS components increased with time. Among five pairs of TG and other MetS components, the longitudinal correlation between TG and BMI was the largest. It is important to closely monitor subjects with high levels of TG and BMI in health check-up population especially for women, because these two components are closely associated with development of hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other metabolic diseases
